Ryan was raised in swim-mad Los Angeles, where nearly every backyard had a pool and every community had a swim team. He swam competitively beginning age 8, first on age-group teams and then US Swimming. He went to school at UC Berkeley where he continued to enjoy the pool, but in this case, waterpolo. He coached an age-group recreational swim team of 120 kids through three years of college, and loved every minute of it.
Ryan moved to Boise twelve years ago, and then decided to “home base” at his mountain cabin in Cascade with his wife Jessica. Ryan is also a father to two (daughter 34, son 31) and a step-father to Jessica’s three (daughter 24, sons 21 and 19).
Ryan looks forward to getting to know the “swim tribe” of Cascade, and developing young swimmers to a high level of technical ability, speed, character and sportsmanship!
